I was recently thinking about Chinese Nutrition and the fractal force of every bite alongside the phenomenal pressure this can bring up to EAT RIGHT!!!.
I have noodled aplenty about how the diet industry has created such an intense experience for our mouth activity of sense, taste, chew, swallow. Our deeply embodied and inherently unique experiences of taste are taken over by what we should be eating and how we should be eating and when we should be eating according to outside sources that often do not have our sovereignty at the centre.
Yet what could be more of an experience of sovereignty than the taking in of food, adding our own digestive juices to it, breaking it down, using what we can for the form and function our bodies and eliminating the rest.
If one definition of sovereignty is to have "complete independence from outside control" an amazing way to flex it is from mouth to anus.
Many, though not all, of us have control over what goes into our mouths. Of course money, culture and other conditions influence that, but what I am pointing to is that at the root of it all, most of us do have a lot of conditions for soveriegn eating and we can flex that decision muscle.
I decided to change the name of the food programs I offer to TASTE. To get a taste of what our bodies thrive with, to reset the tastes we long for, AND to get a real taste of what it means to relate directly with the vessel beneath our brains.
TASTE: a whole foods liberation practice
Eating whole foods for 1-4 weeks, with guidance and support, does an incredible job of liberating our relationship with food, reconnecting with our guts and educating you on how Traditional Chinese Medicine can help you heal from the inside out. We reset the relationship we each have with food to one that is responsive, inclusive of our cultural and ancestral tastes and revolutionary in application.
I will be launching TASTE: the fall program in October, stay tuned for more info AND please hit reply if you wanna tell me what you think about sovereign eating. I also invite you to connect with me on the socials, and bring this conversation into the guts, as ti were, of our communities...
